As you probably already know, getting traffic to your website is simple. But how do you get your visitors to come back again and again?
Here are 9 tips to keep your visitors coming back for more…
1. Quality Content.
The saying online that “Content is king” still holds true today. For example if your website is nothing more than a place filled with banner ads with very little else can you really expect your visitors to hang around, or ever return again?
You need to remember that web visitors aren’t going around with their wallets out looking to make a purchase, they’re usually looking for more information on a particular topic, so give it to them in the form of great article, videos etc.
2. Updated Content
Just like the last point most people will come to your website to find great content but if they return after a few weeks or months and nothing new has been posted or content has been updated don’t expect them to return a third. (Why to read the same stuff over and over again, I don’t think so!)
3. User Friendly
There is nothing more frustrating than getting to a website and not being about to navigate around it because of broken links or a hidden navigation bar.
4. Slow Loading
Also like the last point they is nothing more frustrating than having to wait for a website to load, we’ve become less patient with loading times of websites nowadays. So if your website more than a few seconds to load, you really need to do something about it. Either by changing web host or taking off images or other extras that your website doesn’t really need. (Take a look at the big sites like Amazon.com to see that a great website doesn’t need all the extra bells and whistles to be a great website.)
5. Contests
Contests and free downloads are a great way to keep your web visitors returning again. They’ll want to return to find out if they’ve won a prize or to download a free report that you’re currently giving away.
6. Games
Is there a game you could develop or an online free tool that you could offer to your site visitors to keep them coming again and again?
For example some SEO websites offer free online tools to their visitors where they can check page rank, link popularity etc.
7. User Friendly Shopping Cart
For those visitors they do want to make a purchase you really need to be able to offer various payment methods to them like PayPal, all major credits cards etc.
If they find it difficult to buy anything off you they’ll probably go to your competition and buy off them instead.
8. Message Boards And Forums
By providing a forum or a message board it gives your visitors a reason to return to your website either to keep in touch with similar people or to find an answer to their problems.
The only down side of this tips is that you really need a website that has a lot of traffic coming to it. There is nothing as off putting, as a forum where no ones uses it or that doesn’t get posted to very often.
9. Bookmark Script
Although not all of your visitors might return by using a simple “Bookmark Me” script on your site, you stand a better chance of return visits to your site.
If are using a bookmark script you really should get yourself a distinct favicon for your site this way your website stands a better chance of standing out in the list of other bookmarks rather than just hidden in the crowd.
