I’m sure by now you are well aware of how good article marketing is for getting free traffic to your site. What you may not be aware of how Yahoo Answers can also do the same and with even quicker results.

For those of you who don’t know much about “Yahoo Answers,” it’s a site owned by Yahoo where people from the general public go to ask questions on various topics computers, health, home etc.  These questions are then posted for other users to either answer or redirect that person to where they can get an answer to their problem.

So, you may be thinking so what, what has this got to do with me?

Easy, you’re an expert in your niche, right? So here’s your chance to prove it to others. Firstly sign up for a free account and then start answering questions in your chosen niche.

Yahoo Answers is great for 3 reasons…

1. You get to show off your expertise and help brand yourself an expert in your field.

2. After a while you’ll start to see a trend in the questions, with the same questions being asked over and over again. This can help you discover what problems your niche is having so you can easily create your own product to sell to them further on down the line.

3. When you post your answer, there’s a little resource box which you can fill in with a link back to your site. This way you have a link for free traffic to your site (which by the way stays up for ever) and a free back link from a top page ranking site!

But there are right ways and wrongs to use Yahoo Answers, do it properly and you get free traffic for ever, do it badly and not only with your get no traffic but make yourself look bad and unprofessional.

Here’s are some things you need to remember before using posting your answers

Tip 1 - Do you know the subject? Remember don’t get involved in subjects you know nothing about you’ll only look a fool.

If you post an answer that’s completely wrong you will do very little to present yourself as any kind of expert and you lose all credibility, remember stick to what you know the most about.

Tip 2 - If you find a question on weight loss don’t post an answer on anything other than weight loss. For example if I posted a question “How Can I Get a 6 Pack?” would I really want an answer on weight loss pills or weight loss surgery?

No, I want a six pack and that’s it, just give your reader the answer that there looking for.

Tip 3 - Don’t submit the same copy and paste answer over and over again for every question. It will look like you don’t have a clue plus it’ll only get deleted by Yahoo as spamming the forum, so you’ll only be wasting your time and energy.

Tip 4 - Why not give something away, most people only answer questions but if you answer their question plus give away a free report to show how helpful you are you help to come across as being a helpful type of person which helps attract potential customers to you rather than a pushy sales person who every wants to avoid.

Finally,

If I’d have to compare “StumbleUpon” to “Yahoo Answers” for ways of generating free traffic for my site I’d go with Yahoo. To me StumbleUpon may have been good in the beginning because everyone on it has been marketed to over and over again so I think it’s lost its effectiveness.

StumbleUpon may get you huge amounts of traffic in a hurry, but from my experience they usually come in the front door race straight through out the back door where you never get to see them again.

A lot of people avoid Yahoo Answers because if requires an extra effort of spending time to answer people questions rather than just pushing the stumble button.

But with Yahoo Answers you may get a smaller trickle of traffic but if its done properly you can have back links from questions you answered a long time ago still sending you traffic for ever (just like article marketing)
