Domain Names - What’s In A Name And Does It Really Matter?

Not got the domain name you where looking for?

It can be a real pain when you’re looking for a domain name and you find they’re all gone. We’re always told to look for a domain name with keywords in it, but as you know the majority of good domain names are already taken by squatters looking for a quick buck.

So what can you do or does it really matter?

Take a look at the major site online

YouTube - Videos

Amazon - Books

EBay - Auctions

ItWasSoEasy - Article Directory
(Ok I tried to get this one past you :))

There’s no mention of any keywords related to what they do and yet they’re sucessful.

Take for example the topic of articles and article directories, how many can you name off the top of your head?

Ezinearticles, article dashboard and then it becomes a blur with article this and that and they all seem to merge into one another and nothing seems to stand out.

But by having a domain that’s different, it helps it stick out and makes it more memorable.

But having a distinct domain name doesn’t mean you can sit on your laurels and expect the world to make a path to your website. All the major sites whether they’re distinct or not all have one thing in common and thats great content.

So if you can’t get that domain name don’t fret just work on your content and you’ll never look back.

New Site You Really Need To Bookmark!

Hi,
Not your usual blog post or article but a site that anyone online needs to be aware of its called http://www.domainthefts.org and was put together by Jan Michaels (of ArticleFriendly fame) and its about domain names and their theft.

This site came about because Jan had a couple of domain names robbed right from under his nose, some one got into the admin area of his domain provider, took over his domain names and is now directing traffic from his site to their site.

Talk about SCUMBAGS!!!!

And you know that best part he’s powerless to change them back until ICANN & the domain registrars change their rules and stop this problem from continuing to happen.

AND….its probably going to cost him $1,500 per domain name to get them back.

The site is still in progress but take a look for more info.
