So what is blockage? Can you think of this concept as preventing or blocking my thoughts being read from another person? Well, first thing and let me get a little deeper with what is Qi Gong? It is an ancient healing art in China that can be dated back as 10,000 years old. Qi means energy and Gong means work . The Chinese terminology can also be interpreted as breath work since it is involving our breathing and meditation.

Besides the internal health benefits of Qi Gong, it has been proven to improve a person s digestion, cancer prevention, diabetes, liver, heart, kidney, neurological disorders, longevity are only a few examples of the endless benefits. I can also tell you that practicing Qi Gong will also heal a person with any physical injuries. I ve had many joint problems or issues with my shoulders and spine from the past 10 years of training with intense weights in the gym. Over the years, there is only so much a body can endure or handle with the overload of weight a person is putting on their own body. I would press 400 plus pounds with my upper body and over 600 pounds with the lower body. From personal experience, I learned the hard way and I began to feel these effects from a result of my training overload. I came across Qi Gong and it has helped me in my own self journey to heal myself and as well teach others about healing. Performing Qi Gong allows the person to harmonize their body by simple meditative breathing which anyone as young as 5 years old to someone over 90 years old can practice on a daily basis. By visualizing and breathing properly you will help improve or generate internal blood circulation within your body by getting rid of any blockages you may have built up in your system. The improved blood circulation will help improve nutrients throughout your whole body going to your individual organs, muscles, tendons, and so on. So what is blockage again?

Since I mentioned visualization earlier, let me give you an example so that you can imagine what is blockage. The flow or transportation system of Qi can either be called channels or meridians. There are 12 main meridians (6 yin and 6 yang) in our body which is focus towards each particular organ. Visualize a small river that is shaped oval and it is flowing smoothly with no interruption, a continuous movement of water. If we were to put a dam on any part of the river it will disrupt the flow of water and eventually cause problems. This will be the same with our own body and eventually it will cause issues within our own blood flow internally which will lead to illness. Some of us have come across acupuncture or have heard about it. It is an ancient healing art using the form of tools involving needles. These needles are placed on the acupuncture points (meridians) that we feel may have a blockage or disruption of blood flow in that particular area of our body. It is same concept with Qi Gong and we are self healing by visualizing, breathing properly, and correct posture by practicing Qi Gong to clear those blockages within our own body. So with my shoulder issues, my blockage wasn’t necessarily in the area of my rotator cuff but may be areas in my pectoral muscles near my chest, elbow, and wrist. The blood flow in those areas weren’t being distributed properly to my shoulder as an end result.

So, now you have a better understanding about blockage. Again, Qi Gong is very simple to learn and think of it as brushing your teeth once or twice daily. If you can brush your teeth once or twice daily then there is no excuse you can t do the same with Qi Gong. On a side note, I hope everyone does brush their teeth at least once a day!
